Since storming onto the X Games scene with a Women’s Park silver medal at Barcelona 2013, Alana Smith has made it clear that they are a force to be reckoned with. Alana is among a select group of skateboarders who push limits regardless of the terrain (or gender). Their transition skills are impressive and sometimes overshadow their considerable street prowess.

Alana’s has developed into an aggressive, yet stylish, skater who can handle whatever obstacle is thrown at them. They were also the first, and currently only, female born athlete to do a backflip on a skateboard.

Alana was a member of Team USA at the Olympics in Tokyo where skateboarding made its global debut and made a statement that was heard around the world, coming out as the first Non-Binary Olympic athlete. Their goal going into the games “was to be happy and be a visual representation for humans like me.” They made a statement that it’s okay to unapologetically be oneself and is working on creating safe spaces and camps for the LGBTQ+ community in action sports.
