A Midwestern street skater, born and raised in Illinois – Tia Pearl has been skateboarding for almost 20 years. She has not always been an adaptive skater but nerve damage at age 22 changed some things. However, her love for skateboarding always stayed the same. She has grown and adapted in one of the most free spirited sports out there.
10 years ago when her life changed forever from a hernia repair she was ready to quit. Finding WCMX in 2016 and advancing quickly in that sport brought her back to life and gave her the push she needed to get back on her skateboard. In 2019 she decided crutch skating was what was next and hasn’t looked back ever since.
From being the first female crutch skater in the world to taking home back to back golds in the adaptive women’s division at Dew Tour, she is turning heads with her technical tricks. Her old school style mixed with her midwestern street skating roots live on through adaptive skateboarding. She believes every experience is a success because no matter what, you learned something from it.
